By CURV
In the fall of 2003, composers Jennifer Butler, Kristy Farkas, and Marci Rabe co-founded CURV — an innovative composer/performer ensemble whose collaborations blurred the lines of creative authorship and challenged the solitary paradigm of classical composition by reusing and recycling each other's materials. Many of CURV’s works incorporated live electronics, movement, text, and visuals while exploring audience–performer relationships and physical space, confronting conventional concert etiquette. Projects have been presented by the Western Front, Vancouver New Music, Open Space, among others. In April 2007, CURV was commissioned by Continuum Contemporary Music (Toronto) to create and perform 20 Silent Words, an hour-long piece incorporating sound, text, movement and image.
